Ready to Call it Quits!

When I woke up this morning, it was to the same daily anxiety, only heavier.
What am I doing?
Am I making a difference?
I am feeling overwhelmed, bogged down and I have lost my joy.
I thought 2018 was supposed to feel lighter.
I am feeling behind on videos, blogs and even laundry.
When I go away on vacation, I have to prepare weeks in advance, only to come back to barrage of work. “Is it worth it?” I ask myself.

Then…Spirit presented a re-focus for me.

I was served up a clear message from an online dating experience first thing this morning.
Yes, I am back online dating again, for 2 major reasons.
One… I am ready to experience love in my life again. It has been 7 years since my beloved Dan passed away.
Two… I am in the process of creating a new course, “Set Your GPS to Love… 8 steps to attracting in a loving relationship.” I figure if I am teaching about attracting in love, then I may as well experience what my clients are doing.
So what happened?

I was matched up with a handsome man on Tinder and 20 minutes into our messaging, I realized he was a scammer or ‘catfishing’ as it’s called.
I am getting pretty good at recognizing them and I suddenly knew what I am to be doing!
I am meant to carry on creating my course and be a champion for single women. Especially for single women over 40, back into the dating scene again.
I am teaching and guiding women during their process of finding love again.

Ladies!!! It all begins with self-love and honouring yourself!

It means dressing so you can look in the mirror and say, “I love and accept myself.”

I was given the reminder as to WHY I started my image business in the first place; to bring more love to the world, starting with the person in the mirror.

I am NOT ready to give up on doing what I can to build empowerment, confidence and esteem to women, so we can drive through the bullshit and find quality men to match the quality women that we are!

I will soon be adding a newsletter every Friday called, Love Letters. If you are interested then please register for them when I provide a link to them. (a few more weeks)

Also, to start on your self love path of looking in the mirror and loving the woman looking back…

I am offering my online course, 7 Steps to Confidence and Success with Style. It begins Feb.1 and is at a special 2018 offer of $147.00. (regular $197) Register by January 30.

I am offering 2 new BONUSES with it too.

Does Size Really Matter?

As an image professional, I see fresh fashion come into the stores each season. When I get my clients into the dressing room to try on these new styles, I often bring in two or three sizes of the same piece. What I know from experience is that I can’t rely on sizes being equal in every brand.

My goal is to get my client into the best fitting pant, top, dress, or jean. When she goes home with a shopping bag of new clothes, items could be in four or five different sizes. What I know is that she looks great in these new pieces. They fit well, they flatter her figure and that’s what matters.

Yet sizes can be such a stumbling block for women. If they’ve always been a size 10, they are loath to go up a size even if it looks better on them. They reject fit and comfort and want to squeeze into that size 10 no matter the image cost.

Let’s talk about that cost. When the seams of a garment are straining, this is what people may surmise: This woman must be out of touch or maybe she doesn’t care how she looks. The same can be said about the woman who wears baggy, ill-fitting clothes.

People size you up in seconds and if you look uncomfortable or out of touch in your clothes then your image as a confident, successful person drops. Doubt comes into the picture. Your reputation takes a blow.

This is too big a price to pay for trying to fit into a garment that matches a number you’re used to instead of fiddling with different sizes to find the piece that most lines up with the shape of your body. For a woman wearing clothes that are too big, she may not trust the new sizes I’m putting her into because she has that same hold about “being” a certain size.

Where do you suppose this obsessive hold on size comes from? More than once, a woman has shared with me that her husband or mother was obsessed with her being a certain size. And if she wasn’t that size, she spent years and years not accepting herself or loving herself as she was.

Women in bigger clothes may feel a need to hide or protect themselves. Gently exploring how it feels to be visible in clothes that fit properly could drastically change this pattern.

I’ve also heard from women who tell me that their daughters are obsessed with size and calories before they are even in their teens. Sometimes that’s a wakeup call to Moms who have been so hard on themselves. They see the pain and pattern of self-criticism their daughters are starting to develop.

This I know: Your body is aching to feel accepted just as it is, today, right now. You can give your body that gift by adorning it in clothes that fit and flatter. It’s a fallacy to think that being a certain size is the only time you’ll be attractive. It’s best to drop any expectation you have about sizing.

The way clothes are sized is continually changing. I may have more experience in this than you do because I’m in the stores and in dressing rooms with women of all sizes during my workweek.

When you take the focus off of size, you can actually see the beauty in clothes: their design, details, textures, patterns, and lines. Focus on beauty and style first. Don’t give “size” any energy.

My aim is to help you look great in clothes. It may be easier to tackle this with a coach like me by your side. If you’ve been in clothes that are too big on you, can you imagine having more fun with clothes, being more visible? If you’ve struggled with sizing and fit, would it be great to get a professional’s perspective?

I am here for you! Let me help you get the best looks for your body and help you find the self-love that’s been waiting in the wings ready to be showered on you.

Happy Holidays! Enjoy them fully!

I Just Want a Girlfriend to Say, “Here Wear This!”

Do we ever really know what women are going through each day?
Don’t we all have our stress limits and feelings of overwhelm?
Is there someone you know or are acquainted with, who you think has it all together? Have you really let her open up to say what her world is truly like?

I bumped into someone I haven’t seen for quite a few years. I was excited to see her and wondered what was going on in her life.
She put on a brave face and said she had been let go from her work. Her husband is ill and she is the bread winner. After a few minutes she opened up more.
She has a house to physically look after, is the care-giver to her husband, is exhausted, afraid, depressed and… to add to her depression, she beats herself up about her body and the way she looks.
“I am too tired to even try. I have given up on myself. I just want to cry. I just want a girlfriend to come over, take my hand and say wear this.”

Then her eyes did fill with tears.

Could I relate? You bet! My beloved Dan had pancreatic cancer and I was his caregiver for a year. It was “scary as hell” I can tell you. On top of that I taught school, tried to carry on with my business, take him to radiation treatments, to the naturopath for Vit. C treatments and jump up at 5 am to make smoothies and healthy food for the day.
I too wanted a girlfriend to take my hand and instead of an outfit, just take over for an afternoon.

Strangely enough, what helped me get through was actually taking an Image Course. I had signed up and paid a big amount of U.S.$, so felt I should carry through. Well, it helped me to create outfits, learn more about my personality style and connect with other women online. It helped me to take my mind off my troubles for one hour each week, plus I wanted to complete my assignments, so it gave me positive things to think about.

I just finished putting my outline together for my course, 7 Steps to Confidence & Success with Style, when I met my friend. I told her what I was offering and how the image course had helped me.

If she wanted a girlfriend to offer her inspiration, style advice, a group to interact with, formulas and templates she could use with the clothes she already has, so she can refresh her look and maybe her confidence, then, I had something for her. And… it is extremely affordable in Canadian $$!!

Did I hear back from her? A resounding yes! “Yes, I can do that!”

I hope YOU can do it too, because I want to offer support and encouragement and hope to all women who are over stressed, over tired, over worked and are running on a tank of NO SELF-LOVE.

Be ready to jump in and register for my course, 7 Steps to Confidence & Success with Style, when it comes on sale, Friday November 24. BLACK FRIDAY EVENT!  $147 + HST (regular $397)

Here is what you get: you can check my website for more details  www.imageconnections.ca

  • 7 classes + a BONUS class… all recorded, formulas, templates & maybe a few special surprises.
  • Private FB group to interact in and be supported
  • Weekly Q & A calls

** Oh by the way: my friend needs outfits and confidence to go out for job interviews again too.

5 Common Wardrobe Challenges

Part of my business includes giving presentations and I like to begin with asking women about the “Ruts” they encounter in style and wardrobing.

These are the 5 most common challenges that I hear:

  1. I buy the same thing over and over- maybe I just buy them in different colours.
  2. Fashions seem to be for tall, slim women or very young women. I just don’t know where to shop anymore.
  3. What is age appropriate? Styles seem to be for the 20 and 30 year olds. I want to look current but not silly.
  4. I want to find clothes that hide my waist and still not look frumpy.
  5. I buy straight from the mannequin and have no idea how to mix and match.

What challenges speak to you? Do you have new ones to share with me? Please email me or comment below.

In my private Facebook group called, Level Up Your Image in Business, Life and Love, we just completed a 10×10 challenge, where we chose 10 items to mix and match to wear over 10 days.

It was fun and definitely an eye opener!

What I heard was, “Wow! Details sure make a difference.” Women were learning some simple tricks and tips.

Wouldn’t you love to be a Mix & Match Queen to get the most out of your clothing investments? Stay tuned for my Black Friday Special on Friday November 24!!

What’s Your Challenge?

On November 1, I started a 10×10 Challenge in my private Facebook group called Level Up Your Image in Business, Life and Love.

***You are welcome to join the group anytime… here is the link.

Well, I am always surprised and emotionally touched when clients have Ah-ha moments too. Below you will read the comment from one of the young women taking part in the challenge.

I have known and worked with this woman for many years, since she is also my Daughter – in Love (in –law). Over the years I have heard about her insecurities about her image and body and although I think she has and always will be beautiful, I know she has to see that for herself.

She has been participating full out during this challenge and here is what she wrote in the group, just as we were  preparing by sorting through our clothes. My eyes are full as I write this because I am so proud, not because she is family, but because I am being able to witness her journey.

My clients’ success is my success. My purpose is creating space for self-love.

Now I would like to share the success with you.

“Well…it’s not quite the 10×10 Challenge but it sure is getting there!! After travelling a lot last year, I realized how much I LOVE dressing when travelling. I love having only what I need, making deciding what to wear a breeze. Having all the pieces I bring combine perfectly for a variety of activities creating a seamlessness to my day. And how everything I had with me made me feel my best!
From this Ah-Ha moment…with every seasonal closet shift…I have been trying to break down my wardrobe to key pieces. The same way I would choose what I am going to bring on a trip!
If I don’t feel amazing in it. If it doesn’t mix and match with everything else. If it isn’t practical for what I will be doing. It gets the boot! And I feel awesome!!!!!! I can’t pinpoint exactly why …but an anxiety has lifted.
And my relationship to myself has changed some how. It’s like I no longer feel swayed by all the images of what “beautiful” looks like anymore. Now that I know how to dress for my life, for my body, and reflective of my Soul…I KNOW I am beautiful. That gross plaguing feeling that I “need” something else to be beautiful, strong, effective, yada yada yada, is gone. I have what I need. And I feel great! No more will corporations profit from my insecurity. No more will the Earth have to pay for my insecurity.”

Working toward a minimalist wardrobe….

Carrie owns an Acupuncture clinic in Thunder Bay, called Red River Acupuncture. I know her clients all benefit from her continuing journey of discovering self-love, because her energy goes out to them too. Her family too receives a huge benefit because that vibration of self-love, affects and influences, all around her.

What are your challenges with dressing for your body? Who you are? Style?

I would love to help and even if you just watch my videos, comment, read my newsletter or join my group, you will receive tidbits of guidance.

I invite you once again to join my private Facebook group, Level Up Your Image in Business, Life and Love, and join the group of wonderful women who are joining from countries everywhere.

Wow!! Who Would Have Thought?

I headed over to a regular client’s on Tuesday to do some editing and create modules for transitioning her summer clothes into Fall.
She has booked me for a year and we have a monthly appointment. She says I am her gift to herself! I love it.
She has had a colour analysis, body type analysis, discovered her personality style and now we are into finding what she needs to complete modules.
I was transitioning some of her summer dresses to be wearable in Fall and she was astounded at the positive results when I combined a dark floral dress with a pair of skinny jeans. I added a pair of nude heels to dress it up and give her height.
She can also wear this dress with tights and tall boots.
My client is fairly tall and could carry off the look. She just kept smiling and saying,Wow! Who would have thought of putting these together?”

That is what I do and I love it.
My “Style Eyes” see your wardrobe items differently than you do, because it is all fresh and new to me.
One of my favourite things to do is to shop a client’s closet.
Are you ready to transition into Fall? Would you like to have me help you to shop your closet?
Run to your phone right now and dial 905-775-7486.

What do I offer and what is the investment cost?

I explained the Colour analysis in my previous blog.
Today is Personality Style… another foundation to putting your look together and sending the message of who you are to the world.
It is $250 + HST.
What happens is, I send you questions to work through and then we meet to go over them, discuss and together we come up with your UNIQUE style words. We spend about 90 minutes together.
This is generally combined with a Colour Analysis by most clients, since they pair perfectly together and you save $110!!

What’s new:

Starting November 1, I am offering a new module challenge called a 10×10 challenge. You choose 10 pieces of clothing and combine outfits from them for 10 days.
I got the idea from another Style blogger Leanne at Classy Yet Trendy.
In order to join the challenge you can join my private Facebook group, “Level Up Your Image for Business, Life and Love.”

Thursday November 16. Join us for a LIVE event for women in business. Level Up Your Professional Image. Tickets are $60   Early bird special until Nov. 1 is $50

Remove Yourself From the Chaos With Comfort Clothes

I am not a person who watches the news or reads newspapers. However, when I log into my email, headlines pop up on the screen.
The other morning as I waited at Canadian Tire for some car work, news of more hurricanes and destruction was playing.
I do believe the chaos in the weather patterns, is a reflection of the human chaos in the world at large.
Being a Reiki practitioner, I often sit in meditation and send love to the world and hold my small space of light.

We can start sending calm and love to the world by first beginning with ourself.
Self-love is so important and world -love, begins with us. One person at a time.

What do you do to give back to yourself?
How do you give self-love back to you?

I saw this pair of cozy, knit fleece pants at Walmart and they called to me saying, “Cozy, warm, relaxing. Let me hug you.”

I know I will thoroughly enjoy them on cold mornings this winter or curling up to read in the evenings.

What kind of clothing gives you a hug? What do you relax in?
I would love to receive your comments.

This webinar gives you 3 important tips on what to keep in your closet so it makes your editing decisions much easier.

** Get your gift here

As I was perusing through my summer wardrobe, I thought I would try mixing up some new with older pieces, to make outfits for the weekend.

I plan to be entertaining grand kids and here are 2 outfits that I feel I can wear to enjoy time in the park with them. Plus, I like my clothes to give me energy if I need them too (that is by adding WOOD energy from Fashion Feng Shui) and wearing clothes with stretch and ease of movement does that!

Here is what I plan to wear:

  1. White knit capris from Nygard. Floral, flowy top from Nygard collection.
  2. Denim capris from HUE. Navy and white striped top from Old Navy.
  3. And of course a comfortable pair of sandals by Sketcher, in navy.

Take time to make the most of wearing what is in your closet. What do you want the outfit for? Attending a BBQ? Driving to explore a scenic town? Walks in the park?

You won’t know what is in your closet, if you don’t spend some time giving it TLC.
