Weekend Warrioress Outfits! = WWO

What are YOU doing this weekend? I am in Thunder Bay and exploring the city. Or… walking at Mission Marsh or Centennial Park, all with the Grandkids and maybe a Grand-dog too.

This means comfortable shoes and layers since we usually start out in the morning and it heats up by afternoon.

(LOL… maybe! It is Thunder Bay!)

I used my Wardrobe Module Chart to help me plan and pack for the week I am here.

You TOO can get this when you register for my Master Class,” GET THE MOST… out of the clothes you already have!”

** Register here

Why is this class $97.00? It is a Master Class. It is one of the foundational components you will use over and over again. In other words… IT IS WORTH IT AND MORE!

Here are some comments from after the class.

“I want to get into my closet NOW! I am so excited to put things together.”

“It’s so simple. Why didn’t I think of that before?”

“You de-mystified mixing and matching for me. I am impressed.”

I hope you follow me on Facebook too since I often do a Facebook live from various places when I travel. If you get the chance to visit Thunder Bay, you can try out some of my favourite places. The International House of Tea, The Mystic Garden, The Madhouse Restaurant (for Fish tacos!!) and many more. Watch my videos!

As I was perusing through my summer wardrobe, I thought I would try mixing up some new with older pieces, to make outfits for the weekend.

I plan to be entertaining grand kids and here are 2 outfits that I feel I can wear to enjoy time in the park with them. Plus, I like my clothes to give me energy if I need them too (that is by adding WOOD energy from Fashion Feng Shui) and wearing clothes with stretch and ease of movement does that!

Here is what I plan to wear:

  1. White knit capris from Nygard. Floral, flowy top from Nygard collection.
  2. Denim capris from HUE. Navy and white striped top from Old Navy.
  3. And of course a comfortable pair of sandals by Sketcher, in navy.

Take time to make the most of wearing what is in your closet. What do you want the outfit for? Attending a BBQ? Driving to explore a scenic town? Walks in the park?

You won’t know what is in your closet, if you don’t spend some time giving it TLC.

It’s Not Too Late!

Well here we are heading into July already and even thought the weather has been sporadically sunny, the general energy is that of slowing down to enjoy summer.

This may free up some time for you to do some editing in your closet.

This Spring, I offered a complimentary download called, “Wave Good-bye! 21 Reasons to Let Go!”

Many women say they can’t get started, the job is too big, or they can’t let go of things. This download gives you 21 baby steps to take so you don’t have to tackle it all at once unless you want to.

** Download it here!

It isn’t too late to de-clutter your closet. In fact, it’s never too late!

Perhaps you will discover a new way to wear an item. For example, how about pairing your jean jacket over a dress or summer skirt?

Maybe you will find a treasure in your jewelry box, like a statement necklace, that will update a t-shirt or top.

** Click here for your GIFT of Wave Good-bye. 21 Reasons to Let Go.

And… if you are kicking back on a rainy day, watch my webinar 3 Golden Closet Rules.

You will be inspired even more!

From PREDICTABLE to PDA!

I just had a wonderful conversation with a woman, explaining what it is I do, since she was over to interview me before signing me up to speak at their store. Our conversation gave me the idea for this story.

I was so happy to know she loves wearing colour and therefore really stands out in her family.

She is sad that her sister lives in black and yoga pants. And… she said that now her Mother has retired, she has given up!

“She is PREDICTABLE and BORING. All she does is throw on a pair of pants and a t-shirt! She has lost a reason to dress with some interest since she says she is ONLY at home.”

”What message is her Mother sending to herself, her husband, her family and her friends?” I ask.

“I have given up.” is her look!

Is that you? Are you predictable, plain and boring to yourself and your family?

I am here to hold your hand and take you out of that rut! Have some FUN in your life and in your closet!

How to Make Summer Event Wardrobe Worries Disappear

Summer is fast approaching and with it comes weddings, BBQ parties, pool parties etc.

As a fashion and wardrobe coach, I hear from my clients about the things that stress them out and getting dressed for summer events is one of them.

I want you to feel at ease with yourself and stress-free. Let’s see if I can help you do that!

“I’m worried about looking appropriate for an upcoming event.”

Events can be a bit tricky, as you’re not only dressing for the event; you’re dressing for the venue, the people, and the weather. The first thing to do when starting to plan your look for an event is to study the invitation. Does it have a dress code on it alerting you to the type of outfit you should be wearing? Is the invitation design formal or informal? Every invitation holds clues for you.

The next thing you can do is research the location of the event. Google is your friend here. Look up what the weather will be like during the days you’ll be there or how the weather normally behaves during that time of year. What will also help is to look at the venue’s website for photos of previous events held at this location. Even though you may be attending an event in a barn, you may see by the photos that elegant parties are the norm.

By researching these different factors, you can more confidently figure out an outfit that you’d feel comfortable in and one that would be appropriate for the setting as well.

Of course, if you have been following me, you know I will recommend that you wear outfits that compliment your skin undertone and your body shape. Those alone will help boost your confidence.

Are You Guilty of Doing This?

Are you a closet fantasizer? A MAYBE, SOMEDAY kinda girl?

You are frustrated with all the items taking up space in your closet and yet when you take out something you haven’t worn in 5 years… at least… you stop and fantasize about where you could wear it?

I hear this all the time from friends and clients. Hey… I can admit even I have done it!

Well, I COULD wear this on Hallowe’en sometime.

Or… this could be cute for a party on a cruise ship, if they have a theme party that is.

If I hold on to this…

  1. I might go to New York for lunch.
  2. I might be able to wear this to a New Years party, even though it is out of style and I freeze in it.
  3. I might wear it at the beach, cleaning the car, painting.
  4. I had better hold on… this … MIGHT happen!

If you are being a someday, what if, kind of person, I am breaking the news to you. If it hasn’t happened now, there is a strong chance it never will.

And, wouldn’t you prefer looking up to date, and happy in what suits you now?

Time to l-e-t- it go!! Tug, tug… actually, I am here to hold your hand and gently help you to step out of your scarcity, what if, frame of mind.

Join me in my next class, From Closet Chaos to Wardrobe Bliss. It is on Tuesday May 23 @ 8pm, from the comfort of your own home!

When to Let Go

Everyone experiences opening their closet door and seeing items that they haven’t worn. Could it be that it’s time to let go of some things? Or do you think you should give those items a few more chances?

What would be the benefits of letting go? If you’re not constantly looking at items that make you stop and wonder whether they belong there anymore, your chances go way up for seeing the things you love and want to wear.

There may be things in your closet that could be of service to others if you were to donate them to a charity. You may even have pieces that don’t seem right for you that could earn some money if you were to take them to a consignment store.

So why is it so hard to make some edits to your wardrobe? We have memories and stories attached to clothes. We have guilt about buying and not wearing what we purchased. It’s hard to face that waste of money. Or we look at clothes that were bought hastily or purchased while emotions were running high. It reminds us of habits we’d rather not face.

The good news is that you’re not alone. Chances are most people have things hanging in their closets that should be in someone else’s closet, not theirs. These shopping misses or the holding on of clothes that don’t serve you in your current lifestyle are signs that you’re human.

This is an area where I can’t stress enough how helpful it is to have a professional wardrobe consultant there to help you with this process. Someone objective can help you assess whether you should hold on to something or let it go. That professional consultant has worked in hundreds of closets and has no judgment about yours. She knows that once you’re clear about what should stay and what should go, you’ll have freed up so much mental and physical space. You’ll feel light and buoyant—like you’ve lost weight or been on a vacation—once you have an exit plan for clothing that’s no longer serving you.

I’d like to give you some practice homework to try in your own closet. Click here to get your 21 Reasons to Let Go! Once you understand some of the reasons clothes need to go, you may end up making lots of progress on your own. Then you can call on someone to help you in the final round on the pieces that you’re still wondering about. How does that sound?

Plan on spending some time in your closet—whatever you think you can handle at one time. It can be thirty minutes, an hour or two, or maybe an afternoon on the weekend.

Remember… we usually only wear 20% of all the clothes in our closet… 80% of the time. Let’s make it a GREAT 20%!!

Click on this link to receive your 21 reasons that clothes should go so you can be getting the maximum use of the clothes that will stay and also to have peace of mind and joy every time you open your closet.
