Continuing on from my last post, “4 Panic Situations that Keep Women Caught in a Money Trap“, here are panic situations 3 and 4. We all know occasions come up in our life that may throw us into a frenzy. What to wear can cause our heart to pound, head to ache and panic to set in. We rush out to buy something and still feel uncomfortable and thrown together. All that money for what? Another outfit to sit in your closet?
3. Panic Shopping Situation:
You have an event that requires you to wear an outfit that you don’t normally wear. If you’re scheduled to make a professional presentation and your home office work attire is yoga pants and a t-shirt, of course you’re panicked. Or you’re a city girl strutting confidently on hard pavement between tall buildings and you’ve been invited to a destination wedding that involves the sand and ocean. When faced with unusual-to-you clothing requirements, it’s easy to go into a store and quickly overspend to make up for your lack of confidence in this area.
Panic Shopping Solution:
When you don’t know how to dress for a new situation, don’t be afraid to admit you need help. An image consultant has all kinds of clients with lots of different needs. Your situation isn’t a mystery to her. With her guidance, you won’t overspend and you’ll be totally confident while having new experiences in clothes that feel like you.
4. Panic Shopping Situation:
A major change has taken place. You’ve moved to a different climate, you’ve gotten a new job in a new field, or you’re suddenly single again and need some dating clothes. It seems like you need lots of new things and you need them quickly. You go shopping and come home with the fashion season’s latest trends but somehow nothing feels right.
Panic Shopping Solution:
When big changes have taken place, it’s best to go back to basics and rediscover your personal style. An image consultant can teach you how to express your best self in clothes. Instead of purchasing trendy items, she can help you purchase clothing that resonates with your style. This way your wardrobe won’t expire with each fashion season. It will grow and evolve with you.
Personal story: Just last month I had a client call me in a panic. She had met someone online dating and needed some clothes to attend theater and the art gallery. Since we had already worked together, I knew her colour palette and body type. So all that was needed was a visit to her closet to see what she already had and then decide what we needed to make a module.
Then, I was able to go out and do some pre-shopping for her and when we finally got together for a shopping day, I knew where to take her to save time.
She came away looking fabulous and trendy, with two new jackets to wear with dresses or jeans. And to match up with she already had in her closet, a new dress and top! She was smiling from ear to ear and couldn’t wait to go on her dates.
