What a fun time I have been having with the Fall Fashion Trends these past two weeks! I presented a Trends workshop last week and it was a success! Have you ever found yourself asking …fall fashion trends…Why should I care?
The women attending were surprised at the “Style” words they came up with and the response I got was, “You need to do this every season. It makes it so much easier for us. We know where to shop, what to look for and you save us time and money!”
The ladies attending are already very fashion conscious and well put together but they still came away with tips, tools and AHA moments. It doesn’t matter where you are in your fashion journey… there is always something new to learn… if you are OPEN.
I am sure many of you think, “Why should I care about following fashion trends? I am retired, or I don’t dress up, or I don’t have the time or the money.”
Well ladies, life keeps changing, your body changes, your job may change etc. We need to change our wardrobe to keep up and look current and up-to-date or we are looking irrelevant.
I cringe when I hear a younger woman say “Oh I won’t wear that! My Mother wears things like that.” It doesn’t mean you need to dress like a 20 or 30 year old but adding a plaid clutch bag or an animal print scarf can keep you looking in touch with the times.

I believe we are role models for the future generation. Role models for men, women, our friends, co-workers and family. So I think it is important to look modern so we aren’t undervalued.
If you are in business of any kind… an entrepreneur, in a corporate setting, whatever it may be… you need to look current. It comes as part of making a first impression. If you are:
- Still dressing in styles that are 10 years old or more,
- If your hairstyle and make-up haven’t been updated in the past 3 years
then the message you send out is, “I am not up-to-date in my thinking or capabilities.”
A good way to get a feel for the trends is to buy a magazine such as InStyle. Rip out pages of clothing and accessories that speak to you. Forget about the price. Collect your images together and look for a theme. What are the main colours? What are the main styles? Do you have fun dresses in there yet you never wear a dress? Maybe there is leather, lace and heels? Are you hiding a more daring side of that wants to come out?
The ladies in my group were VERY surprised at what their Spirit was telling them!
Thank you to my amazing Virtual Administrator Joanne Burgess, who came out to the workshop and then we went shopping on Saturday. She wanted to look “funky” when she went out with her daughter. Joanne is a “Spring” palette so she bought a nutmeg coloured Moto jacket and a pair of pants in the same colour and a scarf to pull it together. All clothes were purchased at CLEO in the Upper Canada Mall. Then, we visited U at Home in Bradford and what was waiting there for her… a perfect plaid clutch purse with the same nutmeg colour around the edge! Perfect!
She will be complete when she adds her brown boots to the ensemble!
I would love to help you update your look and I would love your feedback too! How are you doing with updating your fall look? Don’t forget to leave a link back to your own blog too via the commentluv feature here on the site.
